The Windbreakers are
a St. Albert-based run club available for all Indigenous youth in grades 7-12.
Windbreakers focuses
on more than just running.
We also emphasize the importance of culture.
Our club is coached by St. Albert teacher Jarod Letendre and proudly organized
in collaboration with Métis Local 1904
What we offer
The purpose of the Windbreakers Youth Running Program is to inspire Indigenous youth and motivate a sense of pride, cultural connection, and empowerment while engaging in the sport of running.
Free Long-Distance Running Training
Develop endurance and strength with professional guidance, training twice a week on Wednesday afternoons and Saturday mornings at Sir Alexander Elementary School.
Cultural Education
Engage with and learn about the traditions and histories of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples through respected elders and guest speakers.
Body and Spirit
We believe in nurturing both the body and spirit of our young Indigenous runners, helping them gain a greater appreciation for their culture, all while building physical fitness.
